Chronic Incretin Therapy Study
What does the study involve?
If you agree to take part, your participation will last for 6-7 months, and will involve one
screening visit and six study visits to the CTRC at HUP.
You will be asked to take either an active medication called sitagliptin, or an inactive pill
(a placebo), daily for six months.
Screening visit:
- Medical history
- Brief Physical Exam
- Weight and Height measurement
- Urine Pregnancy test for females
If you qualify based on your screening visit, we will ask you to fast overnight and come back
for your first study visit the following morning. You may also choose to stay overnight at the
CTRC. Each study visit will take about 5 hours to complete.
Study visit 1:
- Mixed meal tolerance test (MMTT) with blood draws
Study visit 2:
- Glucose potentiated arginine (GPA) test
(this will measure the insulin and other glucose controlling hormones in your body)
Study visits 3 and 4 (1 month and 3 month):
- Blood draw
- Adherence interview
Study visit 5 (6 month):

Study Visit 6 (6 month):
- Glucose potentiated arginine (GPA) test
(this will measure the insulin and other glucose controlling hormones in your body)
All clinically relevant results will be shared with you and, if you give us permission, your/your child’s CF doctor.
